Cergizan’s Auto and Truck Repair advises that the basic maintenance schedule for your automotive filters depends on the filter itself. Each filter has its own mileage milestone at which it should be changed. We can change the filters in your automobile to make sure the engine is running as efficiently as possible. Just check your owner’s manual for specific recommendations for your car, truck, or UV.
Air
Generally, the air filter is replaced every 12,000 miles. This makes sure that it does not get clogged by the dirt that it removes from the air that flows into the engine. A clogged air filter can cause problems with your engine’s performance. Unfortunately, it can also reduce your fuel economy. If you only put a few thousand miles on your car every year, have the filter changed annually.
Cabin
Unfortunately, there really isn’t a general recommendation for the cabin air filter. If your vehicle is equipped with one, the time to change it ranges from 6,000 miles to 30,000 miles. In the case of the cabin filter, we recommend that you check the service schedule in the back of your owner’s manual. Please note, not all automobiles have cabin air filters.
Fuel
The general recommendation for changing the fuel filter is every 30,000 miles. In the case of the fuel filter, if you don’t put a ton of miles on your car, you should have it changed every two years. The same is true with the fuel filter as with the air filter. Allowing the filter to get clogged is going to affect your engine’s performance. In addition, it can damage the fuel pump.
Oil
A clogged oil filter can damage your engine. In fact, it can damage the engine beyond repair. As such, it is crucial that you have your oil changed every 3,000 miles so we can replace the fuel filter as well. In the case of synthetic motor oil, you can wait until 5,000 miles to have the oil and filter changed. A clogged oil filter can prevent oil circulation through the engine.
Transmission
Finally, the transmission filter mimics the fuel filter in terms of changing schedules. It should be changed every 30,000 miles. As with the cabin filter, your car, SUV, or truck may or may not have a transmission filter. Check your owner’s manual to see if it does.
